Abstract
Career advancement for hotel employees is influenced by multiple factors. This study examines the effects of work motivation, promotion systems, and employee competency on career development at Holiday Inn Bandung Pasteur. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 60 employees selected through the Slovin formula and simple random sampling from approximately 150 employees. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The results show that work motivation has no significant effect on career development (sig. = 0.155 > 0.05). In contrast, thepromotion system has a positive and significant effect (β = 0.453; sig. = 0.000), as does employee competency (β = 0.395; sig. = 0.000). Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect career development (F = 88.738; sig. = 0.000), with an R² of 0.826, indicating that 82.6% of career development variation is explained by the model. Thus, fair promotion systems and competency development are more important than motivation alone in supporting employee career advancement
