Abstract
This study aims to examine the relationship between education and training and employee productivity, with work discipline positioned as an intervening variable. A quantitative approach was applied using a survey method, where data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees as research respondents. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to assess both direct and indirect relationships among the variables included in the research model. The results indicate that education and training have a positive and significant effect on work discipline. This finding suggests that well-implemented education and training programs are able to improve employees’ compliance with organizational rules and work procedures. However, education and training do not show a significant direct effect on employee productivity. In addition, work discipline is also found to have no significant influence on productivity. These results imply that employee productivity is not solely determined by discipline or formal training, but is likely influenced by other factors more closely related to work effectiveness, such as technical competence, work systems, or organizational support. Further analysis of the indirect effect reveals that work discipline does not mediate the relationship between education and training and employee productivity. Therefore, although education and training are able to improve work discipline, this improvement does not translate into a significant increase in productivity. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to the development of human resource management literature and provide practical insights for organizations in formulating strategies to enhance employee productivity.
